What is the TGS product you're never without?
I travel with the facial Gua Sha and would never leave without it. Airplanes cause fluid to pool and build up and I can tell when I really tired from facial puffiness, so it is my go to to use every single day.
Why do you choose to use TGS as opposed to other products on the market?
I really connected with the founder, Jess's story and struggle with autoimmunity. When I was in residency, I developed an autoimmune disease and started using Gua Sha and I felt really seen in the story of the products.
What is the best piece of advice you always return to?
You know the best way to heal. The people, things, and places you are drawn to naturally are your roadmap.
Do you have any tips for someone trying to glow up mentally and physically?
Glowing happens from the inside out. Focusing on the foods, mental/spiritual practices, and routines that help you feel your best are always going to support the health of your skin. Adding in some of the glow oils and Gua Sha will only enhance it :)
What's one underrated mental or lifestyle practice you wish more people did?
After anything stimulating to the nervous system, taking a physiologic sigh with one two deep inhales and one long exhale would do wonders for the reactions and triggers that feel inevitable. Healing can sometimes be as simple as breathing more intentionally.
Are there any rituals of wellness you recommend for women based on your expertise as an MD?
Women are ritualistic by nature. We work best we follow rhythms and cycles that reset monthly because of our monthly menstruation cycle. I recommend creating rituals around your cycle that ground you in each part of it, so women can begin to learn and understand the nuances of their cycles.
What do your AM/PM routines look like?
AM: In the morning, I usually start with a meditation, one of my cycle syncing teas, and 3 morning pages. I take my supplements and drink a large glass of regular water or lemon water on an empty stomach. Then I end with skincare + sunscreen.
PM: I dry brush (watch Alysia's tutorial here)with The Golden Secrets Ionic Copper dry brush, shower, and full body Gua Sha with The Golden Secrets Sculpting Stone and heal all oil. Then, I oil cleanse my face and double cleanse with black african soap then apply skincare. Then, I use The Golden Secrets Gua Sha on my face to seal in the oil and support my lymphatics so I don’t wake up puffy in the morning.
