Thank you to everyone who sent in their questions on Instagram — I love hearing from all of you and I wish I could answer every question. Answering five of the most asked below :)

FYI I will be doing this at the end of every month so make sure you’re following my personal account on Instagram @jessegolden and subscribe to my email list HERE so you don't miss your question potentially being answered!

Q1: How many times a week should I exfoliate my face and what should I use?

As we age the exfoliation process does slow down so it’s normal to need or want to exfoliate the skin more often to encourage cell turnover. Still, too much exfoliation can disrupt the barrier of the skin, making it more sensitive and prone to redness, inflammation, and even breakouts. I feel that exfoliation is a personal experience and is determined by your age, skin type, climate, environment, and lifestyle. I think the best way to tell when your skin could use a gentle exfoliation is when you are applying your product and notice that it doesn't feel smooth, but congested, especially around the t-zone. That is a good sign that your skin could benefit from a gentle exfoliation prior to doing your normal skincare routine.

Here are my three favorite ways to exfoliate the skin, unclog pores, smooth out the appearance of the skin and reduce wrinkles and fine lines:

  1. Heal All Oil mixed with a dash of baking soda. Place into the palm of your hand and, using your finger, mix these two together. It forms a beautiful paste that is easy to apply to the skin. Focusing on the t-zone, apply to your face and begin to massage in small circular motions. You can get your fingers a little wet to help facilitate the application.
  2. Instant Glow Facial Mask. Our mask gently exfoliates the skin, so whenever your skin feels dull or just not as bright and radiating as usual, it's a sign to do the mask. You can apply with the brush provided and then use your fingers to gently massage the skin to further help in exfoliation as well. Pro-tip - when you add water to make the mask make sure it's hot and less is more. (you can also use the mask with the Heal All Oil like in #1 if you don't have baking soda.)
  3. Last but not least, I love a Korean exfoliating towel. If you have ever been to a Korean spa, then you know what I am talking about. These can be too harsh for some people, especially on the face, so be mindful but for me personally, I love them.

Q2: What is good for aging on the chest?

The same ingredients that are good for your face are suitable for your chest. Even though most directions include the neck and decollete, it's often an area that is forgotten. Start including your chest into your daily skincare rituals. I like to do my nightly rituals in a towel, tube top, or robe so that I have easy access to this area and can simply bring everything down my neck and chest.

Step 1. Mist the chest with Aura Beauty Mist

Step 2. Apply Youth Beauty Face Oil

Step 3. Massage the chest from the midline or center of your chest out with our Sorceress Stone to help smooth out any wrinkles or uneven skin.

Lastly, incorporate the Instant Glow Facial Mask into your weekly routine at least 2x per week. Apply it to your face, neck, and chest. This will instantly smooth the skin and over time increase firmness and uneven skin tone.

Q3: What products do you use to keep your hands, feet and body moisturized?

I use Heal All OilAphrosidiac Glow Body Oil, and Goddess Shaping Body Oil. It is key to apply oil to damp skin immediately after a shower.

Another trick that I like to do to keep my skin soft and glowing is to put a few drops of Goddess Shaping Body Oil onto my dry brush prior to showering, then just do a cool rinse with no soap, and then apply Heal All to damp skin. This really seals everything in for that ultimate hydrated, moisturized glow.

Q4: I know you don't wear sunscreen but what do you do if you're in the sun all day?

On the rare occasion that I am not able to seek shade and my hat, clothes, sunglasses, and umbrella aren't enough, then I will use either of these two brands. These are the only two brands I recommend and that my son uses regularly. He is an avid surfer and always stays out in the sun way longer than most. When seeking a good sunscreen, this is what you want to look for: organic, non-toxic, reef safe, non-nano particle, and lastly, make sure it contains stable saturated oils.

Pro tip: Apply Heal All Oil prior to any sunscreen; it will create an extra protective barrier for your skin and keep it hydrated.

Q5: How do you stay so strong through the hardships in your life?

Knowing that everything will pass. I have always been of the mindset that within our hardships live the greatest opportunities for growth. Even if we don’t see it at the time, hardships often move us out of our comfort zone, encourage us to learn, dive in, dig deep, forgive, practice self-love and discover exactly what it is that we are here to do. So, I use my hardships as fuel to get me from where I am to where I am supposed to be. Perspective is everything.

I encourage you to look at your next hardship as an opportunity to move the needle and take you one step closer to living at your full human potential.
