100% organic Calophyllum inophyllum oil (Tamanu) A deeply nourishing oil prized for its rich fatty acid content readily available for skin absorption. Extracted from the nut kernels of the Tamanu fruit. It takes over 220 pounds of Tamanu fruit to create only 11 pounds of cold-pressed Tamanu oil, making this liquid green gold a labor-intensive and very expensive to produce. It's high in fatty acids, with saturated fatty acids (SFA) being the major constituents (41–52%), with a relatively high proportion of stearic acid (25–35%) and unsaturated fatty acids (18–22%). It boasts a distinctive composition, featuring noteworthy elements such as the unique fatty acid, calophyllic acid, and calophyllolides. These components serve dual roles as effective antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agents. In addition, it contains delta-tocotrienol, a form of Vitamin E, alongside a variety of antioxidants. Among these antioxidants are calophyllolide, coumarins (such as calophyllolide and inophyllum P), and flavonoids. Together, these compounds contribute to the overall antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Several studies have now been conducted into Tamanu oil's protective abilities, including one published in 2007 that demonstrated that it had a solar protection factor up to 18-22. The researchers were able to show that even in concentrations as low as 1%, Tamanu oil could protect against 85% of the DNA damage inflicted by the sun.

*There are a lot of chemically processed Tamanu oils on the market that will not work and can actually cause harm. Real Tamanu oil is dark green to brown and has a naturally strong, medicinal, nutty but pleasant aroma. Our Tamanu is cold-pressed from the fruit kernel of the Tamanu Nut Tree. Sustainably made from nuts that fall naturally and are collected by hand, left to cure in the sun and then gently pressed to yield a thick, green oil. USDA-certified, unrefined, EWG Verified, 100% vegan, free of GMOs, parabens, gluten, synthetic fragrances, chemicals, and essential oils. Our natural, organic ingredients may have slight variations from harvest to harvest but we only use the best of the best ingredients in all of our formulations. Tamanu oil may naturally separate or solidify in cold temperatures or during transport. If this happens, place the bottle in warm (not boiling) water for 5-10 minutes, soaking only up to the shoulder of the glass. Do not submerge or saturate the cap. You can also simply let the bottle come back to room temperature.

In warmer weather, the oil may appear thinner and lighter in color. If you prefer a thicker consistency, you can store it in the refrigerator.

Be mindful- Do not take internally. Keep out of reach of children and avoid contact with eyes. Allergy Warning: Persons with nut allergies should not use this oil. Prior to use, a skin test is recommended. This can be done by applying a dime-sized amount to a small area of the skin that is not sensitive. Some people may have an unknown allergy to Tamanu oil. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.
