Q1: What causes crepey skin, and how can I reduce the appearance on my legs?

Crepey skin is usually the result of several factors working together—natural collagen and elastin changes with age, cumulative sun exposure, dehydration, hormonal shifts, and a weakened skin barrier. When the skin loses moisture and essential lipids, it can start to look thinner, rougher, and more crepey. Two of my favorite products for this are Womb Wisdom Skin-Toning Oil & Copper Dry Brushing.

Womb is formulated with jojoba oil, olive oil, cocoa butter, tamanu oil, and vitamin E to deeply nourish the skin, replenish essential lipids, and support a healthy skin barrier. When your skin barrier is well supported, it holds onto moisture better, making skin look softer, smoother, and more supple.

Lately, my favorite ritual for keeping my legs looking smooth and preventing that crepey appearance starts with Ionic Copper Dry Brushing before showering. I gently dry brush my legs to stimulate and preps my skin to better absorb my body oil.

Then, while I’m still in the shower and my skin is damp, I massage in Womb Wisdom Skin-Toning Oil to deeply nourish the skin, replenish essential lipids, and support a healthy skin barrier. Applying it to damp skin helps lock in that moisture, so I find I use much less product while getting even better hydration. Then I simply pat my skin dry.

Since making this part of my routine, my skin has stayed incredibly soft, supple, and hydrated. So far at 47, I haven’t experienced any crepiness on my legs. Healthy, well-nourished skin will almost always look smoother than skin that’s dry and depleted, and consistency is what makes the biggest difference.

Q2: Thoughts on coconut oil for the body? Reduce the appearance on my legs?

I love coconut oil and use it in many of my formulas, but by itself, I personally reach for it when I’m in a pinch rather than as my first choice for long-term body care. It’s wonderfully occlusive and can help support the skin barrier and seal in moisture, but on its own it doesn’t offer the same antioxidant-rich compounds I look for in thoughtful botanical formulations.

I prefer nutrient-rich oils with a broader profile that nourish and hydrate the skin while supporting overall skin health.

Q3: What Golden Secrets product gives the fastest visible difference?

That’s hard because each one really does, but the biggest difference is definitely our Instant Glow Facial Mask. Again, don’t take my word for it, read the reviews, but anytime my skin is feeling dull or has lost its glow, I do this mask and every single time, I’m just amazed at how it instantly resets my skin.

Over time, it helps with crepiness especially on the neck, and it’s also fantastic if you’re looking for an instant blemish fix. Can be used on the body too!

Q4: What do you use when you wake up looking puffy or tired?

That’s pretty much every day lately, and I feel a lot of people have dismissed the power of gua sha. But the crazier and more complicated things get, I tend to go the other way and go back to ancient rituals. Body scraping is one of the oldest medicinal practices on Earth.

There’s definitely something to say about Qi and circulation and blood flow, and you can get deeper into fascia release and what it does for the face. Just five minutes a day with the right stone.

This is the same stone that body scraping was invented with in ancient times, and it has over 40 trace elements, 20 of them have anti-aging effects. It’s definitely one of my Golden Secrets.
